Ginny Tolkin
is originally from Southern California and grew up in Whittier. She
was raised with 4 sisters all of which were very creative in their
own way. Her mother and father were very influential in her
life. Her mother and father stressed the importance of education
even though neither her mother nor her father had a college education. Her
parents were successful at making sure all their daughters attended
college. Three of their daughters including Ginny received
Master of Art’s degrees. Now that Ginny is a mother she
often looks at her mother with awe and gratitude. How was her
mother able to raise 5 daughters, educate them, deal with the loss
of her husband, assume the role of president of a company that she
had never worked for (her husband’s company), and work through
her grief all at once. In looking at her mother’s
experience and at her own, Ginny realized that people are
often in a state of transition. Friends need each other to help uplift
each other, support each other through the rough times, and encourage
each other to keep moving forward. She believes that the most
important things in life are the relationships you make, and the
relationship you have with yourself being of utmost importance.
